LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announces multi-billion-rupee development projects for Mianwali, including the establishment of a medical college in the district.

She also announces the creation of an allied college for nursing and other health professionals, an agricultural college, and a law college in Mianwali. The District Headquarters Hospital is being upgraded to the status of a teaching hospital.

The CM further announces the “Apna Khet Apni Zameen” project across Punjab, under which landless farmers will be provided 300,000 acres of agricultural land. Each eligible farmer will receive five acres on a 25-year lease for cultivation.

Maryam Nawaz receives a warm welcome upon arrival in Mianwali, with large crowds gathering along the routes and people showering flowers to greet her.

Addressing the gathering, she conveys greetings from Nawaz Sharif and thanks the people of Mianwali—especially women, mothers, daughters, elders, and youth—for their love and support. She says that although Mianwali may be far on the map, it is close to her heart.

She notes that she has visited Mianwali multiple times in the past two years and recalls that during her first visit she struggled to find signs of development. She emphasizes that her government believes in delivering results rather than making promises.

The CM highlights recent initiatives in Mianwali, including the launch of the Green Bus service, road development under the Suthra Punjab programme, and the establishment of a cardiac catheterization lab providing free heart treatment locally.

She congratulates residents on these facilities, noting that the Green Bus service is free for senior citizens, students, and children, while women can travel free in separate compartments.

Maryam Nawaz says that the new medical college will enable local students to pursue medical education without leaving the district, while the proposed law and agricultural colleges will expand educational opportunities and support local farmers.

She stresses that her government is committed to ensuring equal development across Punjab and says that residents will no longer need to travel elsewhere for their rights and basic services.

The CM reiterates her commitment to public welfare, stating that landless farmers will receive agricultural land and support through farmer cards, while clean drinking water projects, free medicines, and free surgeries are being provided in public hospitals.

She also highlights agricultural support measures, including distribution of tractors and machinery, and social welfare initiatives such as ration cards and financial assistance programs.

Maryam Nawaz concludes by expressing confidence that continued efforts over the coming years will transform Punjab’s future and bring sustained development and prosperity to Mianwali and the entire province.
