ISLAMABAD: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Wednesday visited Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) as part of his official trip to Pakistan, underscoring growing momentum in Pakistan–Uzbekistan cooperation across defence, technology, and industrial sectors.

The Uzbek president, accompanied by senior ministers and officials, was received by Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, COAS & CDF, who led the delegation during the tour of the facility.

During the visit, President Mirziyoyev was briefed on GIDS’ diverse portfolio, including advanced defence solutions, indigenous industrial capabilities, and emerging technological innovations. The delegation toured key production and display areas and observed a range of defence products highlighting Pakistan’s expanding expertise in local defence manufacturing and industrial development.

Officials said the visit reflected a shared intent by Pakistan and Uzbekistan to deepen collaboration in defence production, technology transfer, and industrial partnerships. Both sides emphasized the importance of joint ventures, institutional linkages, and knowledge exchange to translate strategic understanding into practical cooperation.

The visit was described as a significant step toward strengthening bilateral ties and exploring multiple avenues of cooperation, particularly in defence and high-technology sectors, as Islamabad and Tashkent seek to broaden the scope of their strategic and economic engagement.
