ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, on Monday dismissed reports suggesting that jailed former prime minister Imran Khan is in urgent need of overseas medical treatment, stating he is “absolutely fine” and sending him abroad for care is still a far-off consideration.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament, he stressed that the government is in constant talk with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding matters including the issues faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He further stated that the meeting between PTI’s KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should have taken place earlier, adding that it was Afridi’s responsibility to initiate the discussion.

“Political point-scoring at the expense of public welfare is harmful,” he said, criticising provincial leaders, including the chief minister, for failing to communicate with the federal government.
