Pakistan, Libya discuss regional security, defence cooperation

Field Marshal Khalifa Abu-al-Qasim Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, along with Libyan Prime Minister Dr Osama Saad Hammad, called on Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, particularly regional security dynamics and avenues for professional and defence cooperation between Pakistan and Libya.

Both sides emphasised the importance of sustained engagement and collaboration between the armed forces of the two countries.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the visiting dignitaries and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Libya.

He reiterated Pakistan’s support for peace, stability and institutional development in Libya, the ISPR added.

The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries.

Earlier, upon arrival at Noor Khan Airbase, Field Marshal Haftar was received by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The Libyan military chief also paid homage to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada at GHQ.
