The question whether an American attack on Iran is imminent is still valid because of a variety of reasons. First and foremost is the military build-up of the US troops in the region. According to Western media, the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and three accompanying destroyers have left the South China Sea and begun heading west earlier this week.
The US Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle now has a presence in the Mideast to enhance combat readiness. Similarly, the UK Ministry of defence has said that it has deployed its Typhoon fighter jets to Qatar “in a defensive capacity.” It is important to note that President Trump has vowed massive military action should Iran decide to carry out executions of protesters arrested in recent days. “We have a massive fleet heading in that direction, and maybe we won’t have to use it,” Trump has told reporters, saying they were going “just in case.” Reacting to the US military build-up, Iran warns US of an ‘’all-out” war. Tehran’s response to the evolving situation is quite plausible, so to speak.
Be that as it may, the situation is extremely tense with major European airlines such as KLM, Air France and Lufthansa suspending flights to the region. In other words, the Middle East is again on the edge.
