KARACHI: Gold and silver prices grew to new record highs on Friday, mirroring an uptrend in global market, where bullion value reached fresh benchmarks, traders said.
Global upsurge drove local gold prices to new highs of Rs514,662 per tola and Rs441,239 per 10 grams, rising by Rs9,100 and Rs7,802, respectively, according to All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association.
While sending ripples across the world, the international gold bullion prices hit new all-time high of USD4,923 per ounce, soaring by USD91. Similarly, silver value moved up to fresh historic height of USD98, up by USD4, it cited.
Following suit, domestic silver prices also surged to new highs of Rs10,275 per tola and Rs8,809 per 10 grams, growing by Rs372 and Rs319, respectively, the association added.
It is worth noting that the open market may trade gold and silver at prices differing those officially fixed by the association.
