ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has made significant progress in the digital transformation of public sector auditing with the development and implementation of the Audit Management Information System (AMIS) since 2022.
According to official sources of the Office of the Auditor-General of Pakistan, AMIS has enabled complete digitalisation of the audit process — from audit planning to final audit reporting. The system has substantially enhanced audit efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency, strengthening public financial oversight in the country.
Audit authorities confirmed that work is currently underway to expand AMIS for end-to-end digitialisation, along with digital interfaces with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Principal Accounting Officers (PAOs) to improve coordination and real-time information sharing.
The drive also includes full operationalisation of Centre for Government Data Analytics at Office of the Auditor-General of Pakistan which was inaugurated by the federal minister for Finance & Revenue in December, 2025.
Future plans also included the use of Big Data Analytics for conducting audit checks, for which four specialized software licenses have already been obtained by the Office of the Auditor-General of Pakistan. Additionally, efforts are being made to address challenges related to digital data sharing through the adoption of Universal Business Language (UBL) standards.
Officials stated that these initiatives will further modernise Pakistan’s audit framework, promote transparency, and strengthen accountability across public sector institutions.
