LAHORE: Following a significant reduction in petroleum product prices, Provincial Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Bilal Akbar Khan has initiated measures to reduce public transport fares.
Late at night, he issued directives to the concerned officers to ensure a decrease in transport fares and ordered the issuance of a revised fare list.
In this regard, he also directed the formation of teams in all districts to take strict action against transporters charging excessive fares. Furthermore, all Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) have been instructed to submit reports regarding the reduction in transport fares.
The Provincial Minister stated that providing the public with the benefit of reduced transport fares in the New Year is the government’s responsibility, and no leniency will be shown to those charging excessive fares. He urged transporters to voluntarily reduce their fares in line with the decrease in diesel prices.
