LAHORE: The Lahore district administration launched a seven-day anti-polio campaign on Monday to administer polio drops to over 2.2 million children under the age of five across the provincial capital.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza initiated the campaign by administering drops to a child at DHQ Mian Mir Hospital, accompanied by senior administrative officers, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner General, Chief Officer MCL, Assistant Commissioner Cantonment, and CEO Health.
A total of 5825 mobile teams have been constituted across the district to administer the vaccines door-to-door. Additionally, 371 fixed teams will be available 24/7 for vaccination at hospitals and health centres. To ensure strict monitoring at the city’s entry and exit points, 214 transit points have been activated, where checking and vaccination of children passing through have been made mandatory.
The DC issued clear directives to the teams to ensure 100 percent vaccination of every child during the campaign and to ensure accurate entry in the digital dashboard by polio workers present in the field. “All Assistant Commissioners have been ordered to personally supervise the campaign in their respective tehsils so that there are no flaws in the campaign,” he added.
Commenting on the campaign, Raza reiterated his firm commitment to a safe and healthy future for the new generation and also emphasised that there will be no compromise on children’s health and safety, and any negligence during the campaign will not be tolerated.
