KARACHI: Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT) organised the 5th Graduation Ceremony, during which diplomas for Associate Engineer were awarded to more than 555 students from various departments.
Students who excelled in their respective fields were bestowed with gold, silver and bronze medals.
Addressing the ceremony, Federal Education Minister Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that this institution was founded in align with the vision of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. Technical education is the most important need of today’s world, he said, noting that Pakistan has approximately 160 million individuals under the age of 35, more than the total population of many nations. This fast-paced world has changed everything and rapidly changing global landscape necessitates adaptation.
He also referenced China’s huge population as a testament to the challenge of rapid national development, urging the need to leverage our population as a valuable resource.
However, Chairman of the AIT Governing Body and Chancellor of Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET), Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, expressed his pride in AIT’s remarkable growth since its inception in 1989.
He noted that AIT began with a single program in Electronic Technology and has expanded to offer 11 diverse technologies. He highlighted the institution’s commitment to education, mentioning the TANG International program that has allowed students to pursue further studies in China.
Chancellor Akbar Ali Khan emphasized the transformative power of technology and the rising global demand for skilled Pakistani professionals.
He encouraged graduates to remain curious and embrace lifelong learning, stressing that their success should also focus on making a positive impact in their communities.
Chairperson of Zakir Ali Khan Foundation Erum Akbar Ali, Professor Musharaf Ali Rajpoot, Aslam Shah Khan, and Tariq Subzwari also spoke.
