ECP announces Islamabad local bodies election schedule
- Islamabad local govt polls will be held on February 15
In a major development, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday released the schedule for the local government elections in Islamabad.
According to the schedule, polling for the Islamabad local bodies elections will be held on February 15. The schedule for the federal capital’s local elections is as follows: Candidates can submit their nomination papers from December 22 to 27. Verification and scrutiny of the submitted papers will be completed by January 3. Decisions on appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers will be finalised by January 13.
Last date for withdrawal of candidature and publication of revised list of candidates is January 15.
ECP decides holding LG polls in ICT immediately
The electoral body said election symbols will be allotted to the candidates on January 16.
As per the ECP, the final results of the local body elections will be issued by February 19.
The ECP on November 18 announced to hold the local government elections in the federal capital.
The election commission had said it had directed its secretariat to ensure the issuance of the election programme for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
