ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Omar Ayub Khan and Zartaj Gul as proclaimed offenders in a case registered against them in connection with PTI’s Sangjani jalsa.
ATC judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, while hearing the case, declared Omar Ayub Khan and Zartaj Gul proclaimed offenders due to non-appearance. On November 6, the same court had issued the arrest warrants for these PTI leaders in the case.
During the hearing, the court also ordered the confiscation of the properties of the accused in accordance with legal procedures. The court declared PTI leaders as proclaimed offenders after issuing repeated summons and failure of the accused to appear before the court.
The court approved the exemption applications of other accused, including MNA Zain Qureshi, lawyer Ali Bukhari, MNA Sher Afzal Marwat, and lawyer Shoaib Shaheen. These applications were accepted after the court reviewed the reasons provided by the defence counsels.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till December 20.
