KARACHI: The Karachi administration is determined of clearing roadsides of all kind of encroachments throughout the megacity. Action will continue against those who set up roadside encroachments. The shops set up as encroachments will be sealed. Cases will be registered against those involved in this malpractice, warned Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi.
He instructed all the Deputy Commissioners to take action against those who are engaged in encroachments on roadsides and footpaths. The campaign to end the encroachment culture in the city should be continued.
Meanwhile, various Deputy Commissioners have submitted reports to the Commissioner Karachi on the actions taken in their respective districts.
DC Central District Taha Saleem informed that effective action has been taken against roadside encroachments in Haideri Market. Nine different shops have been sealed in the action.
The Assistant Commissioner New Karachi took action against encroachments in Sector 11-E, New Karachi.
The residents of the area had complained on the Commissioner Karachi portal that the citizens and residents of the area were facing inconvenience due to encroachments established on the roads by motor mechanics and other motorcycle shops in their area.
The district administration has taken action and removed the encroachments established by motor mechanics and the motorcycle. According to the Assistant Commissioner New Karachi, the encroachments established in Sector 11-E, New Karachi have been removed.
According to the report, the Central District Administration has taken action in Nazimabad No. 1 and removed the encroachments.
In the South District Administration, Assistant Commissioner Saddar Rana Sufyan has taken action and registered an FIR against five people in the district in the action against encroachments in Bohri Bazaar, Dr Daudpota Road, Mansfield Street and other areas of Saddar. To prevent further encroachments on the busy roads of the city, traffic police and town staff have been appointed to monitor these places.
In addition, an operation was also carried out in Kharadar in Aram Bagh Sub-Division in the South District, in which the encroachments established in Kharadar were eliminated.
According to the report of Deputy Commissioner East Abrar Jaffer, action was taken against encroachments on Shahra-e-Faisal in the East District. In the operation, chairs placed by shopkeepers on footpaths and roads were confiscated. Action was taken against encroachments established from the Meteorological Department to Kamran Chowrangi in the East District.
Illegal shops, cabins, chairs were removed from the roads, tea houses and all obstacles were removed. According to the report, traffic police and town administration officials participated in the operation. During the operation, the anti-encroachment staff faced resistance.
Shopkeepers tried to prevent them from performing their official duties by throwing stones at the staff, but the staff demonstrated responsibility and courage and completed their operation.
