RAWALPINDI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for incarcerated former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan for the 11th time after she failed to appear in a case registered against her in connection with the 26 November protest.

ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah issued warrants for Aleema Khan after she remained absent for the 11th consecutive time in the case registered against her and others in Sadiqabad police station.

The court expressed displeasure over her continued non-appearance before it. During the proceedings, a report from the Punjab Board of Revenue regarding Alima Khan’s properties was submitted.

According to the report, she is the owner of 51 kanals and 16 marlas in Bhakkar, one kanal, four marlas inMian Mir, 64 kanals in Raiwind (Mouza Sultan), Lahore, 217 kanals and five marlas in Mianwali, and 4 kanals and 13 marlas in Sheikhupura.

In total, Alima Khan owns 338 kanals of land across four Punjab districts.

Prosecutor Zaheer Shah stated that property details had been collected in advance so that, should the accused be declared a proclaimed offender, her assets could be seized or attached under the law. He added that continued absence from court may trigger such legal action.

The court also directed the freezing of 7 ABL and 15 UBL bank accounts belonging to the accused. As many as 15 bank accounts have already been frozen in compliance with earlier orders.

The court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Chief Commissioner, Islamabad for failing to comply with previous court orders. The Court directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Islamabad to ensure the implementation of these warrants.

During the hearing, one guarantor relating to a vehicle obtained on superdari appeared in court, while two others remained absent. During the hearing, prosecutor Syed Zaheer Shah produced the first five witnesses, including Sub-Inspectors (SI) Zaheer and Iqbal, Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) Kazim Raza, Tariq Mahmood, and Constable Babar, but due to the absence of the accused and her defense counsel, the court was unable to record testimony.

The case involves 87 accused in total, of whom nine have confessed and been convicted, 66 have been declared absconders, and 11, including Aleema Khan, are currently facing trial on bail. The court adjourned the hearing of the case until November 20.
