ISLAMABAD: At least 65 incidents of crime including carjacking, robberies, mobile phone and cash snatching at gunpoint, as well as murder were reported to various police stations across the capital city during the last week.
Data collected from the police revealed 40 carjacking cases, 12 incidents of street crime (mobile phone and cash snatching), 20 robberies, two dacoity and two murder cases.
The data indicates that during the past week, criminal gangs were mostly active within the jurisdictions of Industrial Area, Khanna, Aabpara, Golra, and Karachi Company police stations.
In the same period, auto thieves stole four motorbikes and one car from the limits of the Industrial Area police station, four motorbikes from the jurisdiction of Khanna police station, another four motorbikes from the jurisdiction of Lohi Bheer police station, four motorbikes from the limits of Karachi Company police station, four motorbikes from the jurisdiction of Margalla police station, and three motorbikes from the limits of Aabpara police station.
During the last week, three cases of street crime, one case of robbery, and four cases of auto theft were reported to the Industrial Area police station. Robbers also struck at four different locations, and auto thieves stole four motorbikes from the jurisdiction of Shehzad Town police station.
Another six cases — including one each of murder, robbery, and street crime, as well as three cases of auto theft — were reported to the Humak police station during the week.
