Decision on next Fed chairman likely to take months, White House’s Hassett says

WASHINGTON: The Trump administration’s move to replace Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell as head of the central bank will likely take months, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett told CNBC in an interview on Monday.

“I would expect that this would run out for another few months before the President (Donald Trump) decides,” who the next Fed chair will be, National Economic Council director Kevin Hassett said, citing U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s ongoing interviews of potential candidates.
