ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC), on Monday, extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s senior leader and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan in 10 cases registered against him in connection with his party’s November 24 protest.

ATC judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain, while hearing the bail application in 10 cases, extended the interim bail of PTI leader till January 17.

Omar Ayub has been nominated in four cases registered at Kohsar police station, two in Noon, and one case each in Margalla, Shehzad Town, Aabpara, and Tarnol police stations.

During the hearing, the defence counsel filed an application seeking an exemption from personal appearance before the court for his client.

“My client had to appear before the Peshawar High Court (PHC) in a case, due to which, he has failed to appear here,” he said.

The court approved Omar Ayub’s exemption application and extended his interim bail till January 17.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Shibli Faraz appeared before ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra to obtain interim bail in five cases.

The court, while hearing the case, granted interim bail till January 17 against the surety bond of Rs5,000 each.

Shibli Faraz was nominated in two cases in Kohsar and one each case in Margalla, Tarnol and Aabpara police stations registered in connection with PTI’s November 24 protest.
