ISLAMABAD: A business delegation by leading Polish companies will arrive on a five-day visit to Pakistan on May 20, 2024, to explore avenues for investment in the country in various sectors.
Talking to a group of journalists, Ambassador of Poland to Pakistan Maciej Pisarski said that the business delegation will visit Karachi and Lahore from May 20 to May 24 to hold talks with their Pakistani counterparts, particularly members of the chambers of commerce.
He said that the delegation will comprise of nine leading Polish companies who would be visiting Pakistan to see the firsthand information of the available investment opportunities in their respective sectors of expertise.
The companies included the AQT Water SA, one of the leading experts in decentralised wastewater treatment technologies for single-family homes, public buildings and industry; Biocontrol, a TIC Company (Testing, Inspection and Certification) which provide services in energetic and heating sector; the AGATA company, which provides modern, hydrodynamic and ecological solutions; Ekoinwentyka, that provides innovative solutions in the field of air purification; Far Data, deals with transport noise and environmental conditions monitoring station; Ekotop provides technology for drying sewage sludge; PETROSTER –SERWIS – specialised in providing comprehensive services for electronic devices from all manufacturers - systems measuring the quantity of fuel in tanks, the detection of leaks, as well as, self-operating fuelling systems; Symbiona –recognized as a flexible, fast and innovative provider of wastewater treatment technology, water recycling technology and organic waste (water) fermentation (to biogas and bioenergy); and the Institute of New Technologies in Environmental Engineering.
The Polish envoy said that there is a vast potential for investment in various sectors of Pakistan. However, he added that the Polish government and the embassy is only providing assistance and would encourage the Polish companies to invest in their respective sectors of expertise.
He also talked about various problems being faced by Polish companies who are already working in Pakistan, saying that the embassy is in contact with the Pakistani authorities to address their problems. He pointed out that a polish company which is working in gas exploration for the last 26 years is facing problems related to the repatriation of profit and recovery of outstanding dues because of the circular debt.
However, he expressed the hope that the issue will be resolved as the embassy is in conversation with Pakistani authorities to address the issue. He added that the issue was also discussed with the previous PDM government as well as the caretaker government.
To a question, he said that agriculture is very important sector and Poland is the major exporter of agriculture products in the EU. He added that Pakistan can take benefits of the expertise of Polish companies working in the agriculture sector.
