ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari approved the appointment of Rubina Khalid as the Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme.
The president also accepted the resignation of Dr Amjad Saqib from the post of chairperson. The president approved the appointment under Section 5 (3) of the Benazir Income Support Programme Act, 2010. Rubina Khalid is a politician who has remained a member of the Senate of Pakistan from March 2012 to 2024. She was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Senate election. She also served as the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications.
