ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has cut unprecedented government spending and has even reduced the expenses of the Prime Minister's Office and foreign trips to benefit the exchequer.

The PTI leader, Senator Faisal Javed Khan, has urged, the other institutions should also reduce their expenditure.

He suggested the Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan should meet the needs of its employees by cutting expenses, and improving its marketing and sales strategies.

The PTV, the PEMRA and the Radio Pakistan, broadcast public service messages to discourage sexual violence against children.

He made these remarks, while presiding over a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, on Wednesday.

In the meeting, Managing Director PTV Amir Manzoor briefed the committee about the map controversy.

He explained to the committee regarding the map of Pakistan, which was aired on PTV programmes without indicating Kashmir as part of Pakistan.

He told them about the steps were taken in that regard.

He informed the committee members that the issue related to the retirement of the PTV employees had been highlighted by some employee incorrectly.

The PTV did not force the employees to retire but they will get full pay till the end of their tenure.

The Director General Radio Pakistan informed the committee about the problems faced by the company, and said that the financial situation was not satisfactory.

The situation is not such that the contracts of contract employees could be extended, so the contract employees had to be laid off, he said.

He said that the PCB was suffering loss with every passing day.

On this, Senator Faisal Javed said that the prime minister had set an example of reducing government expenditure.

Following in the footsteps of the prime minister, all institutions should reduce their expenditure.

He directed the PEMRA, the PTV and the Radio Pakistan to run public service messages to end child sexual abuse cases, and also create awareness about Zainab Alert app in public.
