HAMBURG: The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association purchased an estimated 91,300 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States in a tender which closed on Wednesday, European traders said.

The wheat was bought in two consignments comprising various wheat types for shipment from the US Pacific Northwest coast.

The first consignment for shipment between Nov. 14 and Nov. 28 involved 23,540 tonnes of US northern spring wheat of 14.5pc protein content bought at $279.25 a tonne FOB US Pacific Northwest coast, traders said.

The first consignment also involved 15,590 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5pc protein content bought at $278.84 a tonne FOB and 4,700 tonnes of soft white wheat with 9pc protein bought at $239.56 a tonne FOB.

The northern spring and soft white was sold by trading house CHS and the hard red winter by United Grain Corporation, they said.
