Pacer Mohammad Amir has been given the green signal to travel to England, after successfully undergoing two COVID-19 tests resulting in negative.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had confirmed that Amir will join the Pakistan men’s national cricket team in England following the birth of his second daughter last week.

The decision was taken after rookie pacer Haris Rauf, who was also part of Pakistan squad, repeatedly tested positive for the virus and was unable to travel to England.

Furthermore, and on the request of the team management, the PCB has also agreed to send Mohammad Imran, a masseur at the National High Performance Centre, to England. Imran has also tested negative for Covid-19 twice, alongside Amir.

The Pakistan Cricket Board will now make arrangements for their departure to England, which will be shared in due course. Uncapped wicketkeeper Rohail Nazir will be released from the squad as soon as Amir join the team in England.

Old Trafford will host the first Test of the series starting on Wednesday August 5. The final two Tests will be played at the Rose Bowl from Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 21.

The three T20Is will take place at Old Trafford on Friday, August 28, Sunday, August 30 and the final match of the tour on Tuesday, September 1.
