CBOT corn futures rise

CHICAGO: Chicago Board of Trade corn futures rose on Monday on concerns that hot, dry weather in the US Midwest could threaten yields of the developing crop, traders said.

CBOT December corn ended up 2-3/4 cents at $3.56-1/4 per bushel.

Below-normal rainfall is expected across the central and southwestern Midwest, Delta, and the central and southern Plains during the six- to 10-day period, according to weather firm Maxar. Above-normal tempertures are also expected across the central United States.

Corn across much of the US Midwest is heading into its pollination stage, when the crop is particularly sensitive to hot, dry weather.
