imageThe Pokemon Go craze has gripped the world, and it seems that there are some upsides to it, as a campaign has gripped the social media in which children in war-torn Syria have been pictured holding up photos of Pokémon, asking people to help them.

According to The Guardian, the photos of the children are being shared by the Revolutionary Forces of Syria Media Office, and it has been widely circulated on social media.

More than a quarter of a million children are living under siege in Syria, since five years after the Syria crisis began, says Save The Children organization.

image“I live in Kafr Nabl, the Aleppo countryside. Come catch me,” said one of the messages held up by a child, written in Arabic, reported The Telegraph. Another message reads, “I am a Pokémon at Idlib in Syria, would you please come and save me?”

This is not the first time Pokemon Go is being used to voice for Syria, Saif Aldeen Tahhan a Syrian graphic designer has also used Pokémon Go to highlight the devastation in the country.

The designer has created images, which features a ‘Syria Go’ logo in order to show the toll faced by Syrian people over the last five years.

“The world has become obsessed with this video game, so I told myself why not use it as a medium to convey our suffering”, he told Al Arabiya. Giving the reasoning behind the move, he said “I created these images as a way to turn attention to the Syrian war, and to focus on Syrian suffering instead of Pokémon, which people are crazy about.”
