imageLAHORE: A Lahore High Court division bench on Tuesday dismissed appeals of three terrorists against their convictions.

The division bench comprising Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan and Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi heard the appeals filed by Qari Usman, Sajjad Akhtar and Aman Ullah challenging their life term imprisonments awarded by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in 2009.

Earlier, the accused's counsel arguing before the court submitted that Mianwali police failed to produce any evidence against the accused during trial but despite it, the ATC awarded life term sentences to the accused besides imposing fine.

He submitted that the trial court failed to appreciate case facts, therefore, the conviction should be set aside.

However, a deputy prosecutor told the bench that more then 500 kilogram explosive material and two suicide jackets were recovered from the accused.

The police found them guilty during the investigation and the trial court awarded the sentence on basis of solid evidence against them.

The court after hearing the arguments and examining available record dismissed the appeals.
