Pakistani folk singer Arif Lohar who sang title song of ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has been spending more time in neighboring country than in his own homeland. He believes that folk artistes from India and Pakistan are a ‘bridge’ between the countries and try and improve bilateral relations when things become sour.
According to media reports, he said, “I have no idea how many times I have been to India. Whenever I am called, I come. I have got a lot of love from all generations in India and Pakistan and from people settled in other parts of the world. I get a lot of love and respect in India. That is one reason why I keep coming here regularly. Every moment here is memorable”.
“Whenever the water (India-Pakistan relations) gets sour, we come to make it sweet. Artists try their best to do this to improve the relations better. They are a bridge between both sides. We get a lot of respect and love here. We share this respect and love,” he added.
Lohar also thinks that every creature on this earth is beautiful and artists have an inherit ability to spread love everywhere, they are sent by God.
Lohar, who grew up in Aach Gosh village in the Gujrat district of Punjab, attributes his success to his father. He speaks his native Punjabi language even on local and International tours.
