imageISLAMABAD: Korean Exim Bank has agreed to finance establishment of first technology park in federal capital for which work on feasibility study will be started in January next year.

"The establishment of technology park in Islamabad is our priority and I am pleased to share Exim Bank Korea has agreed to finance the project," Minister of State for Information Technology, Anusha Rahman said.

She was chairing 28th meeting of Board of Directors of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) here on Monday which was attended by Secretary IT, Azmat Ali Ranjha, Managing Director, PSEB, Asim Shehryar, Chairman P@sha, Dr. Shoaib and representatives from Ministry of Finance and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.

"We have to enhance level of interaction between government and indigenous IT companies," she said and directed PSEB to establish an "interactive communication portal" to ensure an effective liaison with more than 1100 IT companies, which are already registered with PSEB.

The MD PSEB apprised the board regarding his recent official visit to the Unite States where he had an opportunity to meet with leading US based IT companies i.e Microsoft & oracle which are keen to expand their businesses and invest in rapidly thriving IT sector in Pakistan.

He also sought the Board's approval to participate in forthcoming international IT events and to lead the delegation in IT exhibitions/seminar scheduled to be held in China.

The Board reviewed status of the IT companies and software houses, currently registered with PSEB, status of their respective international certifications and way forward to further increase Pakistan's software export to global market.

Anusha Rehman also directed PSEB for early settlement of land issues to acquire allocated land for establishment of technology parks in Lahore and Karachi respectively.

Anusha Rahman said that we have already granted approval for establishment of a "tech-city to promote IT and telecom in Pakistan and we will give space to young entrepreneurs for establishing start ups.

Keeping in view of growing demand of young IT graduates, the Minister directed PSEB to double the number of internships provided by PSEB so that maximum youngsters could be accommodated.
