imageISLAMABAD: A 43-member youth peace delegation departed has for India to further the peace process through people-to-people contact.

The two-week visit is organized by Islamabad Crescent Lions Club (ICLC) in collaboration with the Development Communications Network (DEVCOM-Pakistan), Jaago Naujawan, a youth organization and local Leo clubs,said a press reelase on Wednesday.

Munir Ahmed, Secretary ICLC and Director DEVCOM-Pakistan, while briefing about the visit said the youth peace delegation would visit six Indian cities, including Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Jaipur, Ajmer and Sikar and hold meetings with Indian youth to explore opportunities for joint cultural and youth exchange visits.

"Besides the sightseeing, the delegation would also participate in different public gatherings which the local Lions Clubs have scheduled for the delegation to interact with the local Indian citizens to enhance understandings on a variety of issues," he said.

"The only solution to peace and harmony between the two nations lies on frequent visits of the youth and communities from both sides. These visits and people-to-people interaction on internationally acceptable social forums would help create mutually beneficial joint ventures on the socio-economic uplift and pave the way for cultural understandings," Munir added.

He said the engagement of unbiased non-conventional elements into the diplomacy efforts on the geographic and strategic conflicts could help bring better and speedy results for a peaceful region.

"The youth of both the nations can play a dynamic role in reshaping the future of their people", he maintained.

The Secretary ICLC said the youth of Pakistan and India would play their role to reduce the differences to live in peace and harmony, resulting in economic development and prosperity on both sides of the border.

In a message to the Islamabad Crescent Lions Club, Lion Kirpal Singh said that their Lion was waiting anxiously for the youth peace delegation along with the Lions from Pakistan and the delegation would be extended a warm welcome and would be provided great hospitality. "We are sure the exchange experience and cultural thoughts would help create a long-lasting brotherhood between both countries", Singh added.
