Ice age continentalLOS ANGELES: "Ice Age: Continental Drift" entered at the top of the North American box office this weekend, knocking "The Amazing Spider-Man" off the summit, industry estimates showed Sunday.

The 3-D computer-animated adventure comedy flick, featuring the voices of Queen Latifah and Denis Leary, took $46 million during its first Friday through Sunday run on the big screen, according to movie tracker Exhibitor Relations.

The latest Spider-Man effort, starring Andrew Garfield, was in second place with $35 million in weekend takings, and cheeky teddy bear comedy "Ted," took third, down one place on the week, with $22.15 million.

"Brave," the Pixar studio's 3-D fairytale about a Scottish princess trying to rescue her mother from an evil witch, took $10.70 million in its fourth week, also slipping one place to lie fourth on the chart.

"Magic Mike," starring Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey as male strippers, held on to fifth place with $9.03 million in takings, and Oliver Stone's drama "Savages" was in sixth, down two places, with $8.74 million.

Tyler Perry's "Madea's Witness Protection" took seventh slot with $5.6 million in sales, while "Katy Perry: Part of Me" -- which gives a glimpse into the pop star's life on stage and off -- held eighth place with $3.74 million.

Ninth went to "Moonrise Kingdom," the latest from director Wes Anderson starring Bill Murray, Bruce Willis and Edward Norton. The indie coming-of-age film took in $3.67 million.

"Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted," rounded out the top 10, slipping from last week's seventh place on earnings of $3.5 million.

Final figures are due out Monday.
