Google reveals Youtube ad revenue for the first time: $15.15bn in 2019 alone

Google video searching platform Youtube minted a whopping $15.15 billion in ad generation revenue in 2019, with $4.72bn generated in the fourth quarter alone.

As per the search engine’s fourth quarter report, the Cupertino based tech giant which operates under the parent company Alphabet and owns YouTube, announced earnings for 2019 on Monday. The search engine made a total revenue of $46 billion in the fourth quarter, up from $39 billion during the same period in 2018, showing an 18pc rise in revenue.

Google also revealed YouTube revenue for the first time since it acquired the company 14 years ago for $1.65 billion.

"We're pleased with YouTube's growth in advertising and subscriptions," said Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and the tech chief should be pleased as the world’s largest video sharing platform saw its ad revenue increased by 36pc year over year.

The video sharing platform boost some 20 million subscribers on its YouTube's premium services, and further two million subscribers to YouTube TV, informed Google.

Apart from revenue generated in advertising, subscriptions to ad-free YouTube, YouTube Music and YouTube TV generated $3bn in 2019, the company informed.

For the first time, Google also give details about its cloud business, which generated $8.92bn in revenue in 2019 as compared to $5.84bn generated in 2018, with $2.61bn generated in the fourth quarter of 2019 alone.

Google informed that its cloud services are running at a $10 billion yearly run rate.
