Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) wheat futures fell on Friday as technical selling and profit-taking hit the market amid uncertainty over rising tensions in the Middle East, analysts said. Wheat was due for a setback, analysts said, after the most-active CBOT contract on Thursday touched it highest price since August 2018.
European wheat prices weakened after hitting a six-month high in the previous session. Markets were rattled by a US air strike in Baghdad that killed Tehran's most prominent military commander. US wheat export sales last week were 333,250 tonnes, the US Department of Agriculture said, toward the low end of analysts' estimates for 250,000 to 800,000 tonnes.
