Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) futures fell on Friday as fundamentals of rubber remained weak on high supplies and weak demand

TOCOM's rubber contract for April delivery finished 0.3 yen ($0.0027) lower at 182 yen per kg.

The most-active rubber contract on the Shanghai futures exchange for January delivery fell 195 yuan ($27.88) to finish at 11,910 yuan per tonne. China's new technically specified rubber (TSR) 20 futures contract was last down 165 yuan at 10,150 yuan per tonne.

TOCOM's TSR 20 futures contract for May delivery closed at 149.1 yen per kg. The front-month rubber contract on Singapore's SICOM exchange for December delivery last traded at 135 US cents per kg, down 1.6%.

"Overall, fundamentals (of rubber) are still weak. It is bumper production season in Southeast Asia in November and December," said Tang Xiaonan, analyst, JLC Network Technology Co Ltd.

"Tyre plants in northern China have limited production from time to time since October as demand is bad," Tang said.

The US dollar was quoted about 108.53 yen, compared with around 108.39 yen on Thursday afternoon.

Oil prices rose on Friday as OPEC's outlook for oil demand next year fuelled hopes that the producer group and its associates will keep a lid on supply when they meet to discuss policy on output next month.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock average was up 0.7%.
