Pakistan bowling spearhead Mohammad Amir was seen in a phenomenal run of form at the ICC World Cup 2019, as the fast bowler finally managed to break his wicketless cycle and emerged as one of the leading force with the ball in the tournament.

The speedster who has recently joined Essex Eagles, and will be seen in action in the upcoming Vitality Blast competition shared about his stint in cricket’s ultimate tournament and his targets for the future.

“To be honest it’s like a dream come true, when you are playing in the World Cup for your country. It was emotional for us not to qualify for the semifinals but overall we perform well,” said Amir, while   talking to Essex TV.

“If you talk about the individual performance, I bowled really well picking up 17 wickets and becoming Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker in the tournament. That was much needed, because before World Cup I was struggling to get wickets but in the World Cup I think I performed well for Pakistan.”

The speedster known for his accurate line and lengths said that he is now focusing on improving his speed after finally finding the wicket taking ability back.

“Now I am getting back on my best, when you are taking wickets and are performing then you can think about other things, so now I am focusing on my speed but it’s all about your fitness and because as fit you get your speed increase as well.”

Talking about bowing T20 cricket, the bowler believed that economy rate is more important than taking wickets in the game. “I think economy rate is much important because when you are bowling dot balls, you can get wickets easily in T20 cricket.”
