Hot weather may affect Ukraine's early grain harvest

Published Updated

KIEV: A heatwave across southern Ukrainian regions may affect the early grain harvest, weather forecasters said.

Spring wheat, spring barley and oats are at risk.

Ukraine has completed this year's grain sowing and the sown area totalled 14.8 million hectares, almost the same acreage as in 2018.

Temperatures have exceeded 30 degrees already this year in parts of southern Ukraine, potentially drying out some of the grain crops.
