Concerns about flooding in the US Midwest that may cause farmers to plant more soybeans than expected continue to hang over market and limit strength. Poor export sales also add to the bearish tone amid uncertainty about trade deal with China.

* Benchmark May CBOT soybean futures contract held support just above Wednesday's low of $8.86 during overnight trading.

* USDA said weekly export sales of soybeans were just 198,800 tonnes, well below analysts' forecasts that ranged from 500,000 to 1 million tonnes.

* CBOT May soybeans last traded up 2 cents at $8.89-1/2 a bushel.
