HAMBURG: South Korea's Feed Leaders Committee (FLC) bought about 65,000 tonnes of feed wheat which can be sourced from any origin worldwide in a private purchase made last week without issuing an international tender, European traders said on Monday.
The wheat was purchased at around $212.99 a tonne c&f plus an additional surcharge of $1.25 a tonne for extra port unloading.
The seller was said to be trading house Cargill. The wheat should arrive in South Korea by Sept. 30.
Two other South Korean importers also each bought 65,000 tonnes of feed wheat in deals last week following a busy period of Korean corn buying.
South Korea's largest animal feed maker Nonghyup Feed Inc. (NOFI) paid $214.20 a tonne c&f for wheat for arrival in South Korea around Sept. 25 and the Major Feedmill Group (MFG) also paid $212.99 a tonne c&f for arrival in South Korea around Oct. 5, traders said.
