HAMBURG: An Ethiopian state purchasing agency has provisionally bought about 400,000 tonnes of wheat to be sourced from optional origins in an international tender which closed on Jan. 31, European traders said on Tuesday.
The wheat will be bought from three major international trading houses.
Considerably lower price offers from a little-known regional trading company were not accepted, traders said.
But it is believed an appeal has been lodged against rejection of the lowest bid so confirmation of the purchase is still awaited, traders said.
