KARACHI: The leader of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) and Muttahida Deeni Mahaz's (MDM) candidate for PS-128 Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi was attacked by unknown armed men near Dawood Chowrangi in Korangi area on Thursday According to police, Moulana Farooqi survived the attack, while his two police guards sustained injuries in the attack. The injured police personnel were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
It was the second attack on Moulana Aurangzeb Farooqi, as he had escaped an attack on December 25, 2012 in the metropolis. According to ASWJ spokesman, Farooqi was scheduled to address a public gathering in his constituency and was on the way to the venue of the rally when unknown armed men opened firing on his vehicle near Darul Uloom Karachi, leaving his two police and three private guards injured. However, he remained unhurt, he said.
