ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a 52-piece crockery set, a 15-piece tea set and a model of a traditional Maldivian boat among gifts deposited in Toshakhana in October, official records showed Thursday.
The Cabinet Division documents also list an item described as “The World’s First Recorded Melody” among the presents given to Sharif during the month.
All the gifts have been deposited in the Toshakhana, the government repository for presents received by officials from foreign dignitaries, and their assessed value is being determined.
Sharif also received a shield, a prayer-bead tasbeeh, a traditional textile piece, souvenirs and a table clock featuring a line model. A silver-coloured replica of a Maldivian dhoni boat was among the gifts.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received a crystal tea cup and saucer set, a medal commemorating the Council of Nicaea from the Holy See and a commemorative plate from the Vatican.
He was also given a traditional Bahraini model ship and a limited-edition Sunburst Gold wristwatch bearing the Pakistani government’s logo.
Pakistan’s ambassador to China, Khalid Hashmi, received two iPhone 17 Pro Max handsets, the documents showed. Gifts presented to Prime Minister Sharif’s daughter-in-law included traditional Maldivian attire and a dress.
The Cabinet Division said details of all gifts received by the prime minister, deputy prime minister and other officials had been received, but their valuation had not yet been completed.
It clarified that all the gifts had been deposited in the Toshakhana in accordance with the law.
Under the Toshakhana system, officials may typically retain gifts after paying a portion of their assessed value, while the rest are held by the state.
