ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday underscored the importance of sustained military training, indigenous capability development and operational preparedness to maintain an edge over evolving security threats and emerging challenges.

The army chief made these remarks during a visit to the Headquarters of the Special Services Group (SSG) at Tarbela, where he reviewed the elite force’s operational readiness, specialised training and combat capabilities, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the visit, the COAS & CDF was briefed on the SSG’s specialised training programmes, operational preparedness and mission-oriented readiness.

He also witnessed a display of state-of-the-art specialised equipment and a demonstration highlighting the force’s combat proficiency, agility and precision in conducting special operations.

Interacting with officers and troops, Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated their professionalism, high morale and unwavering commitment to duty.

He emphasised that continuous training, development of indigenous capabilities and an uncompromising focus on operational preparedness were essential to effectively address emerging security challenges and maintain operational superiority.

Earlier, upon his arrival at the SSG Headquarters, the army chief was received by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) SSG.

He laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument and offered Fateha, paying tribute to SSG personnel who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country.

Good n necessary resolve against security threats, but we need to look at our poor/loan dependant economy that has failed to recover despite three years of promises. This is the real security threat.
