KARACHI: Manchester Airport Group has paid tribute to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for its air services, as the airline marked one year of direct flights from Manchester to Islamabad and Lahore.
PIA spokesman said that over 100,000 passengers chose PIA for travel on the routes over the year.
According to Manchester Airport Authority figures, over 104,000 passengers and 1,541 tonnes of cargo were carried.
Given rising passenger demand, PIA now operates five flights a week between Manchester and the two Pakistani cities he said.
More than 300,000 British Pakistanis live in the north of the United Kingdom, and PIA’s direct flights are an important link for their travel to Pakistan, he added.
