Govt reduces petrol price by Rs2.71, raises diesel's Re0.31 per litre

  • New prices effective for October 22
Published Updated

The government on Wednesday reduced the price of petrol by Rs2.71 to Rs379.31 per litre, while increasing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Re0.31 to Rs390.11 per litre. The new prices will remain effective for Thursday, October 22, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products in line with the petroleum pricing mechanism set by the federal government.

The Petroleum Division said the revision was driven by global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals.

The revised prices will remain effective for October 22.

The government on Tuesday increased the price of petrol by Re0.88 to Rs382.02 per litre and HSD by Re0.53 to Rs389.80 per litre.

Globally, oil prices were little changed on Wednesday as investors weighed possible progress toward Russia-Ukraine talks against declining US oil stocks and a lack of US-Iran dialogue.

Brent crude futures gained 27 cents, or 0.2%, to $109.04 a barrel by 10:50 a.m. ET (1450 GMT). US West Texas Intermediate crude was down 11 cents, or 0.1%, to $97.72.
