LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Lahore has begun accepting applications from aspiring candidates for the upcoming local government elections, with the party’s city president, Faisal Mir, announcing that tickets are open for mayor, deputy mayor, union council chairman, vice chairman, and councillor positions in all towns of the city.

Mir said that people wishing to join the party or enter into an electoral alliance with it may also submit applications. Forms are available at the PPP Lahore office at 16-J/2, Johar Town, and the last date for submission is October 27, 2026.

Under the eligibility criteria he outlined, candidates for mayor, deputy mayor, union council chairman, and vice chairman must be at least 25 years old and registered as voters in the relevant area. Councillor candidates must be at least 21, while those contesting the reserved youth seats must be between 18 and 35.

The party will select its candidates after scrutinizing the applications, Mir added. Nomination papers are tentatively scheduled to be filed between October 27 and 30, although the final schedule will depend on the Election Commission’s notification.
