Dar reviews fuel subsidy scheme

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/ FM) Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday chaired a joint meeting of the National Steering Committee on Fuel Subsidy Scheme and the Committee on Media Management.

The meeting focused on reviewing the operational status, targeting mechanisms, and implementation strategy for the targeted fuel subsidy scheme, as well as the media communication plan to ensure widespread public awareness and seamless outreach.

Dar emphasised the government’s commitment to providing targeted fuel relief to deserving segments of society, as per the directives of the Prime Minister to ensure maximum relief to the common citizens. He instructed all concerned to ensure effective inter-provincial and inter-ministerial coordination, smooth execution, efficient resource allocation, and a robust public awareness campaign. The input and cooperation from the provincial, AJK and GB governments were appreciated by the DPM/ FM.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Ministers for Climate Change, Petroleum, and Information Technology & Telecommunication; the Minister of State for Finance; SAPM Tariq Bajwa; and senior officials from provincial governments, AJK, GB, and the concerned ministries.
