Sindh decides to pay pension on retirement day from Jan 2027

  • Chief secretary gives three-month deadline to clear pending pension bills
Published Updated

The Sindh government has decided that employees retiring from January 1, 2027 will receive their pension and other basic financial dues on the day of their retirement.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah to review pension and medical reimbursement matters.

Shah directed all provincial departments to clear pending pension bills within three months, saying government employees should receive their pension and basic financial entitlements on their last day of service and should not have to visit offices repeatedly to claim their dues.

He ordered the establishment of an inter-departmental task force, headed by the Services department secretary and comprising representatives of the Accountant General Sindh, Finance, Health, General Administration and other relevant departments. The task force was directed to submit a final operational framework for timely pension payments within one week and propose amendments to rules where necessary.

The meeting also reviewed delays in medical reimbursement claims of government employees. Shah said the delays were caused by administrative hurdles rather than policy or funding issues. He directed officials to eliminate unnecessary paperwork and simplify the process, including issues related to incomplete documents, e-verification and issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs).

He directed the General Administration secretary to conduct a joint review of the medical reimbursement procedure and asked the relevant departments to make the system faster and easier for employees and their families. “Employees should not face unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles in obtaining pension and medical dues,” the chief secretary said.
