  • Total liquid foreign exchange reserves stand at $23.72 billion
Published Updated

Foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased by $1.21 billion to $18.33 billion during the week ended September 4, 2026, mainly due to the receipt of government commercial loan proceeds.

In its weekly reserves statement, the SBP said the country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at $23.72 billion as of September 4, 2026.

Of these, commercial banks held $5.39 billion in net foreign exchange reserves.

“During the week ended on 4-Sep-2026, SBP’s FX reserves increased by US$ 1,210 million to US$ 18,328.2 million,” the central bank said.

The increase in the SBP’s foreign exchange reserves was due to the receipt of the Government of Pakistan’s commercial loan proceeds, it added.

Last week, the SBP reported that its foreign exchange reserves had increased by $$19mn to $17.12bn.
