ISLAMABAD: Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) rejected an emergency spot cargo bid for September to cover Qatari supply shortages due to unexpectedly high pricing.
An evaluation report issued by PLL on Tuesday showed BP Singapore was the only bidder for the September 4-8 delivery window and had technically qualified, offering the cargo at USD 26.969 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).
State-owned Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) had sought a spot cargo of 140,000 cubic meters for delivery at Port Qasim in Karachi between September 4 and 8.

PLL re-advertised for bids from reputed international suppliers for the supply of one spot LNG cargo on a delivered ex-ship (DES) at Port Qasim, Karachi, for delivery period September 8-12, 2026. The bid opening date is September 4.
The PLL, a government-owned entity mandated to procure LNG from international markets and arrange its onward supply to end users, invited bids from international suppliers on a Delivered Ex-Ship (DES) basis.
The tender was issued on August 30, with bids due by Tuesday, September 1. Technical bids will be opened at 2:30 pm, followed by the opening of commercial offers from technically compliant bidders at 3:30 pm.
The award is scheduled for September 1. The cargo is to be delivered during a five-day window from September 4 through September 8, with the quantity set at 140,000 cubic meters, subject to the specified 5pc tolerance.
Qatar Energy, a long-term LNG supplier, declared force majeure after Iranian attacks on two of its main facilities in March halted production, forcing Islamabad to turn to the spot market to cover part of the shortfall.
