PRA collects Rs54.8bn

Published Updated

LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has collected a record Rs54.8 billion in the first two months of the current fiscal year, its highest-ever collection for this period in the last 13 years, marking an increase of Rs11.5 billion over the Rs43.3 billion collected during the same period last year.

Officials attributed the surge to the establishment of Special Units and the Large Taxpayer Commissionerate on the directions of the Chief Minister of Punjab.

A PRA spokesperson warned that misappropriation of taxes paid by the public is a punishable offence and that strict action is being taken against those involved in fraudulent practices.

Chairing a meeting on monthly revenue targets, PRA Chairman Moazam Iqbal Sipra said tax compliance, enforcement and digital tax administration in Punjab would see further improvement, noting that digital monitoring and direct payment mechanisms had boosted transparency and revenue generation. He directed enforcement teams to accelerate field operations and ensure timely redressal of public complaints.
