LAHORE: The National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGC) commemorated the nation’s 79th Independence Day with flag hoisting ceremonies held across all NGC installations and field offices throughout the country, demonstrating unwavering patriotic spirit and national unity.

The central ceremony took place at TSG Training Centre in New Kot Lakhpat, Lahore, where Chairman Board of Directors, Dr. Fiaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Managing Director Engr. Altaf Hussain Malik served as chief guest, leading the flag hoisting and cake cutting.

In his address, Dr. Fiaz Ahmad Chaudhry paid rich tribute to the sacrifices made during the struggle for independence emphasised the collective responsibility of all citizens to prioritise national interests above personal gains, stating that the path to prosperity lies in learning from experiences while fostering peace and unity.

Engr. Altaf Hussain Malik, also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the forefathers and said that on Independence Day. “We must reaffirm our commitment to play our role in Pakistan’s progress and prosperity with honesty and a sense of responsibility.” He said the NGC is the back bone of country’s power system in playing a key role in meeting the electricity needs of the country.

“With professional excellence, innovation, teamwork and a spirit of national service, we will continue our journey towards building a more reliable National Grid.” He said that NGC is becoming a regional transmission company by completing the CASA-1000 Project and connecting with Iran.

During the ceremony, the children of NGC employees delivered patriotic songs and tableau, showcasing their love and pride for Pakistan. At the end, the chief guests also planted commemorative saplings and inaugurated the newly renovated hostel of TSG Training Center. The event witnessed attendance from senior leadership, including Deputy Managing Director (AD&M) Engr. Rasheed A. Bhutto, Executive Directors, General Managers, C-Suite officers, Director Generals, sportspersons, females and a large representation of NGC officers and staff members.
