WAPDA celebrates Independence Day

LAHORE: WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed (r) on Friday called for renewed efforts to promote Pakistan’s development and prosperity, urging the younger generation to adopt a positive outlook and take pride in the country’s achievements over the past 79 years.

He was addressing a ceremony held at WAPDA House to mark the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan, where he as chief guest, and hoisted the national flag at the WAPDA Auditorium.

Member (Finance) Naveed Asghar Chaudhry and Member (Power) Muhammad Arfan Miana, along with a large number of WAPDA officers, employees and their family members, attended the ceremony.

The flag-hoisting was followed by a performance of Milli Naghmas by students of WAPDA Girls High School, Barotha, who were specially invited to Lahore to participate in the Independence Day celebrations.

Congratulating the participants on Independence Day, the WAPDA chairman appreciated the students and their teachers for their soulful performance, saying it had infused the gathering with a spirit of patriotism.

He advised young people to maintain a positive attitude and play their role in taking the country forward. He said the nation should take pride in the achievements made during the last 79 years of independence while making sincere and sustained efforts for the country’s development and prosperity.

Earlier, the chairman distributed certificates among the students of WAPDA Girls High School, Barotha, in recognition of their participation.

Meanwhile, WAPDA House, the iconic landmark of Lahore, was magnificently illuminated in green as part of the Independence Day celebrations, with a large illuminated national flag displayed at its centre, symbolising national pride and patriotism.
